The Relationship Between Integrative Self-Knowledge, Mindfulness, Self-Control, and Mental Health Parameters
Background: Self-regulating is a set of processes that controls or alters individualsâ behavior, emotion, and performance. We aimed to evaluate the relation between three components of self-regulating including integrative self-knowledge, mindfulness, self-control, and some variables of mental health and self-conscious emotions. Methods: A total of 233 Iranian university students voluntarily enrolled in the study. Seven questionnaire forms including Integrative Self-Knowledge Scale (ISKS), Attention Awareness Scale (MASS), Short Self Control Scale (SSCS), Costello & Comrey's Anxiety and Depression Scale, Rosenberg SelfâEsteem Scale (RSES), Authentic Pride Scale (APS), and other as sham scale (OAS) were distributed to participants. The correlation between self-regulating variables, mental health, and self-conscious emotions were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient test. Results: We found a negative correlation between self-regulating variables, depression, and anxiety. Our data also revealed that self-esteem positively related to integrative self-knowledge, mindfulness, and self-control. Among self-conscious emotions variables, authentic pride had a positive correlation with self-regulating variables whereas feelings of shame appeared a negative relationship with them. Conclusion: Integrative self-knowledge, mindfulness, and self-control as self-regulating components correlated to mental health and self-conscious emotions
The evaluation of validity and reliability of substance abuse subtle screening inventory (SASSI-3)
AbstractThe aim of this study is to survey of validity and reliability of substance abuse subtle screening inventory (SASSI - 3). 680 students from universities of Tehran and 102 addicted patients of clients of substance abuse treatment centers in Tehran were included. Chronbach's alpha for SASSI-3 obtained 0.74. This relatively high level of Chronbach's alpha showed relatively high level of reliability. Correlation results, between SASSIâ3 scales and also SASSIâ3 show convergence of SASSI-3 at measurement of single phenomenon. The positive correlation of SASSI-3 and AAS show opportune convergent validity. the difference of t-test scores of students and addicted patients on SASSI-3 and the difference of main effect of group variable on SASSI-3 scales between students and addicted patients according to (MANOVA) show opportune discriminant validity and Az (discriminant index) of 0.97 for SASSI - 3 show opportune diagnostic validity
Expressive Body Capture: 3D Hands, Face, and Body from a Single Image
To facilitate the analysis of human actions, interactions and emotions, we
compute a 3D model of human body pose, hand pose, and facial expression from a
single monocular image. To achieve this, we use thousands of 3D scans to train
a new, unified, 3D model of the human body, SMPL-X, that extends SMPL with
fully articulated hands and an expressive face. Learning to regress the
parameters of SMPL-X directly from images is challenging without paired images
and 3D ground truth. Consequently, we follow the approach of SMPLify, which
estimates 2D features and then optimizes model parameters to fit the features.
We improve on SMPLify in several significant ways: (1) we detect 2D features
corresponding to the face, hands, and feet and fit the full SMPL-X model to
these; (2) we train a new neural network pose prior using a large MoCap
dataset; (3) we define a new interpenetration penalty that is both fast and
accurate; (4) we automatically detect gender and the appropriate body models
(male, female, or neutral); (5) our PyTorch implementation achieves a speedup
of more than 8x over Chumpy. We use the new method, SMPLify-X, to fit SMPL-X to
both controlled images and images in the wild. We evaluate 3D accuracy on a new
curated dataset comprising 100 images with pseudo ground-truth. This is a step
towards automatic expressive human capture from monocular RGB data. The models,
code, and data are available for research purposes at

Muslim Work Ethics: Relationships with Religious Orientations and the âPerfect Manâ (\u3ci\u3eEnsan-e Kamel\u3c/i\u3e) in Managers and Staff in Iran
Weberâs association of a work ethic with Protestantism has been extended to religions, including Islam, more generally. Managers and staff in a bank and department store in Tehran responded to Muslim religiousness measures along with the multidimensional work ethics profile (MWEP). The MWEP is a 7-factor instrument that records Weberâs interpretation of work ethics. Intrinsic, extrinsic personal, and extrinsic cultural religious orientations predicted a higher work ethic. Two extrinsic cultural religious orientation factors exhibited especially strong connections with MWEP factors. The morality/ethics MWEP factor most consistently predicted Muslim commitments. Integrative self-knowledge and self-control served as empirical markers of an Iranian Muslim spiritual ideal called ensan-e kamel or the âperfect man.â Both correlated positively with morality/ethics and with three of the four extrinsic cultural religious orientations. Managers scored higher than staff on morality/ethics, on the two characteristics of the âperfect manâ, and on the three of four extrinsic cultural religious orientation factors. These data supported the existence of a Muslim work ethic
Muslim Experiential Religiousness and Muslim Attitudes toward Religion: Dissociation of Experiential and Attitudinal Aspects of Religiosity in Iran
Investigations into Muslim psychology sometimes rely on measures emphasizing religious attitudes, with the Muslim Attitudes toward Religion (MAR) scale being an example. To capture the experiential aspects of Islamic religiosity, a recently developed Muslim Experiential Religiousness (MER) scale recorded an experienced submission to, love of, and closeness to God that define an ideal in Muslim religious consciousness. In a sample of 299 students from the University of Tehran and the Qom Islamic Seminary School, this study administered the MAR and MER, along with scales assessing mysticism, religious orientations, depression, anxiety, and satisfaction with life. Results demonstrated incremental validity of the MER over the MAR in predicting most of these religious and psychological adjustment variables. The MER also mediated and moderated some MAR relationships with religious and psychological outcomes. These data pointed toward a dissociation of the attitudinal and experiential features of Muslim psychology and confirmed the MER as a valuable index of Muslim religious experience
Rheological and ïŹltration characteristics of drilling ïŹuids enhanced by nanoparticles with selected additives: an experimental study
The suspension properties of drilling fluids containing pure and polymer-treated (partially-hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (PHPA) or Xanthan gum) clay nanoparticles are compared withthose of a conventional water-and-bentonite-based drilling fluid, used as the referencesample. Additionally, the mud weight, plastic viscosity, apparent viscosity, yield point, primary and secondary gelatinization properties, pH, and filtration properties of the various drilling fluids studied are also measured and compared. The performance of each drilling fluid type is evaluated with respect in terms of its ability to reduce mud cake thickness and fluid loss thereby inhibiting differential-pipe-sticking. For that scenario, the mud-cake thickness is varied, and the filtration properties of the drilling fluids are measured as an indicator of potential well-diameter reduction, caused by mud cake, adjacent to permeable formations. The novel results show that nanoparticles do significantly enhance the rheological and filtration characteristics of drilling fluids. A pure-clay-nanoparticle suspension, without any additives, reduced fluid loss to about 42% and reduced mud cake thickness to 30% compared to the reference sample. The xanthan-gum-treated-clay-nanoparticle drilling fluid showed good fluid loss control and reduced fluid loss by 61% compared to the reference sample. The presence of nanofluids also leads to reduced mud-cake thicknesses, directly mitigating the risks of differential pipe sticking.Cited as: Mohamadian, N., Ghorbani, H., Wood, D., Hormozi, H.K.
